June 27th, 2022 Newsletter

Hi Friends,

I hope you are enjoying your summer so far and are taking in stride the frenetic pace of our long sunny solstice days.

My family and I have been busy getting the F/V Eagle Claw ready to go to Bristol Bay.  Boat projects and the State House campaign have had us running all over town and I have to say it is great to be in Homer this time of year seeing old friends and meeting new ones, while also looking forward to a few weeks on the water fishing salmon with my kids and my brothers.

In this first email newsletter for the Louie Flora for State House campaign I want to let you know that due to your efforts we have surpassed our fundraising goal for the first part of the campaign.  Thank you to everyone who contributed, who attended and hosted fundraising events and who planted yard signs this spring.  I am honored that this campaign has the support of so many great people.  I am confident that we can win this election!

I am running because I believe that we Alaskans have the attitude, the talent, and the drive to solve the problems that face us. What we need are people in office who will listen to all sides, who do not have a national agenda driving their statements and politics, and who take responsibility for local roads, schools, and communities during their time in Juneau.  I will gladly take this as my responsibility and work with all sides to ensure a safe and bright future in Alaska.

I oppose the climate of fear, distrust and outright falsehoods that many cable channels, a lot of radio talk shows and social media platforms are sowing in America.  I believe that one way to counter deep divisions is to meet people face to face and listen to them.  This is what our campaign plans to do.  We are going to knock thousands of doors between the August primary and the November general election.  From Kachemak Selo to Kasilof, Seldovia to the outskirts of Soldotna.

As the only candidate in the race for House District 6 with 18 years of experience working in and around the Alaska State Legislature,  I can hit the ground running once elected.  I will not waste time with distracting social media antics and bizarre conspiratorial floor speeches.

What I will do is support education, schools, affordable healthcare, salmon protection, road maintenance, clean energy, voting rights and protection of vulnerable Alaskans.

V Eagle Claw leaving the Homer Harbor for Bristol Bay
